Title: Raver999 is a scammer who is fixing his own feedback rating
Post by: ne0nblade on December 01, 2011, 06:02 pm
Raver999 is a scammer, no doubt about it (see other threads) . He's had £60 off me in Ukash vouchers for certain 'white' goods that have failed to show up. Usual story, no contact from the guy now.

What pisses me off is that I bought it through a custom listing which I was lead to believe would allow me to leave feedback on the transaction, yet the only action I have available in my order now is "cancel" . I mean come on SR! what is the point!?!? Your feedback system is clearly flawed at even the most basic level.

50953   custom listing for neonblade   1   raver999   processing   cancel

So this guy is obviously creating fake accounts and 'buying' his own items to increase feedback. Whilst managing to use SR's own feedback system against genuine customers. This was my first experience on this site so really don't think I'll bother again.

What a joke.

Unless you sent him money directly, your bitcoins are sitting in escrow and you can get them back by clicking 'cancel'.

Raver999 appears to be scamming folks out of ukash, not bitcoins.

Ah, I didn't read the OP closely enough. I thought he had purchased UKash vouchers and that "white" stuff with bitcoins.

That's really shitty OP, sorry :(

yep, a bit new to this, so Ukash seemed like the easier option. Especially since his feedback seemed to be good. You live and learn eh?!

Stick with bitcoins. The entire Silk Road system is built around it and as long as people follow the guidelines things work out most of the time.

Live and learn.

... but more importantly, why aren't the operators of SR monitoring these forums and taking note of the obvious reported scammers and shutting their accounts down? Instead, the likes of Raver999 are still allowed to list their non existent wares to unsuspecting users. This whole site seems like one giant scam to me! I'm sure there must be some genuine sellers on here somewhere but it makes it harder to have any confidence when what should be quite a simple feedback system is so inherently flawed.

I get the bitcoins thing now, but from what I see, all new buyers are asked to finalize and leave feedback early anyway, so where is the protection there? You've sent your bitcoins and you've left your feedback. What u got left?

1. You're not forced to finalize early. Just don't buy from someone who insists that you do. There's a growing backlash against early FE that has support from buyers and sellers. Some of the best vendors don't ask for it... you just have to do your research. (I don't request new buyers to finalize early, although there are a few items I just won't sell to them since they're really expensive.)

2. The Silk Road admins respond very quickly when they're messaged on SR. On each page at the bottom right is a 'contact us' link. Use it.
